Redcar Academy celebrated the Queens Diamond Jubilee in style! As part of the celebrations, the Performing Arts Faculty decided that each of the decades would be celebrated through either music or song in an extended assembly. The Year 10 dancers were asked to perform a piece of dance from the 1990’s, so Back Street Boys, ‘Everybody’, was chosen. The dancers watched the original music video and decided on some signature movements that would be recognised from the original choreography.
To coincide, the Year 10 art students had been asked to design a t-shirt that would represent the Queen’s Jubilee. They looked at The Sex Pistols and Vivien Westwood to help them with their ideas.
On the day of the performance the dancers had styled their hair in a 90’s fashion and wore their bespoke t-shirts for the first time. The dance was a huge success and the costumes were extremely effective. Well done to all those students involved.
