Redcar Academy welcomes Mrs Christine Parker, its new Headteacher, who was appointed on 1st September, 2012. Mrs Parker has over seven years experience as a Head in Consett and said “I am pleased to be inheriting a successful school that is well-established in the local community and about the prospect of working with the staff, governors and parents to move the school forward”.
“I am particularly proud to be joining a school where Year 11 students achieved tremendous results in their examinations this year. Their achievement has continued the school’s upward trend and led the school to success with 50% of students achieving 5+A*-C with English and Maths and 95% of students achieving grades 5+ A*-C overall. Thirty-six of these students gained three or more A* or A grades. Congratulations must go to them for their hard work. I am determined that this rising trend in examination results will continue under my leadership.”
“The Department of Education has accepted the school’s application to become an Academy. This will take effect from 1st December 2012 when it will then be known as Redcar Academy. Governors are delighted that the application was approved without any problems and I am particularly delighted that Redcar Academy is the first school in Redcar to convert to Academy status”.
“Parents, the neighbourhood and students will soon see completion of the building work that has been taking place over the summer to re-furbish the front of the building and provide a new reception area. We are greatly excited about the imminent completion.”
