The Y11 Music Btec students took a trip to the Tees Valley Music Service in Stockton on Friday the 1st of February. Mrs Norris designed a day trip with the TVMS staff to compliment the Edexcel Music Btec unit on music organisations and job roles in the local music industry. The students learned all about the organisation itself, performance and non-performance job roles in industry and made sweet music in the sound-pod.
Student account of the day:
“On Friday the 1st February the year 11 Music BTEC group took a trip to the Tees Valley Music Service (TVMS) as part of our Unit 1. When we arrived we had a quick introduction by a man called Jeff Sawdon who was the Assistant Manager of TVMS. We then went on a tour of the TVMS building and at first it looked small and old but after having the tour it was quite big.On the afternoon the TVMS offered us a session in the sound pods and a professional singer came in and worked with the singers. The service work alongside a lot of people in the Tess Valley area along with Stockton borough council, Middlesbrough Council, Redcar and Cleveland Council and Hartlepool Council. This was a fun experience for me as I got to find out about the TVMS. I found the afternoon the best part as we went into the sound pods and got to experience the equipment that they provided, I find it fascinating how the TVMS is growing as a business and as a provider to many different projects and schools and is constantly growing. A great day.”
