It has recently come to our attention that local Facebook pages have been set up containing offensive allegations and language concerning, at times, the students of Redcar Academy.
Redcar Academy will not tolerate such publications and will do its upmost to have these removed as soon as possible, to protect the students, staff and the academy.
Some of these pages feature inappropriate and demeaning language and comments about students and at times display photographs of students from our academy.
The police have been made aware of these issues and they are dealing with them swiftly. They are working to find the creators and anonymous contributors who are clearly at risk of criminal/legal action.
Redcar Academy students are reminded to only use social media responsibly and be respectful of the feelings of others at all times.
If you have any information about who may be posting this information, please inform any member of the Senior Leadership Team or the ICT Support Team so that appropriate action can be taken – 01642 289211 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. This can be done in total confidence.
Please also note that uploading photos without consent is a criminal offence –and if you post or ‘like’ any inappropriate comments, you are possibly implicating yourself which could lead to prosecution.
