The staff at Redcar Academy have been praised, in their recent OFSTED report, for their ambitious approach to meeting the needs of every student. The report recognised that many of the strategies initiated by the Academy since Christmas had yet to make a full impact in the school; however, the report recognises that there is an effective drive for improvement across all aspects of the school.
Mrs Parker, Headteacher, welcomed the report saying “This is the start of a process to make our school outstanding. OFSTED have reassured us that we are taking the right direction and given time and the ambition of our marvellous staff we aim to be outstanding in the next five years”.
The following areas for improvement were identified within the report: teaching and learning and developing accountability and leadership in middle leaders.
The inspection team were quick to recognise the effective leadership and drive for improvement by the senior leadership team, many of whom joined the school in January 2013.
‘We are looking forward to our examination results in August and another visit from OFSTED in the autumn term. “We will be able to show that we are a rapidly improving school with effective procedures to ensure that all of our students fulfil their potential” Mrs Parker explained.
