Twenty five Y11 sport studies students had the pleasure of meeting a professional open water swimmer on Skype yesterday. Adam Walker is completing the Ocean’s 7 challenge which involves swimming 7 of the world’s hardest open water swims. If he is successful he will become the only British person to have ever completed all 7, he has already completed 5!
Adam spoke to students about the importance of setting goals and trying to reach them. He said “If you can’t visualise yourself being successful and reaching your goal you will always find excuses for not making it”. Adam had many entertaining stories of near death encounters with sharks and jellyfish, as well as sharing the excruciating pain and effort it takes to swim for 17 hours without stopping! It is hoped that meeting Adam will inspire students to continue setting targets and not to give up until they reach them!
