Hundreds of parents, family and friends rushed to take their seats for the premier performance of the newly formed RATPAC (Redcar Academy Theatrical & Performing Arts Company) and their Pantomime of CINDERELLA which was staged in the Farwath Centre Theatre just before Christmas.
The performance was full of hilarity with a little bit of evil thrown in to make the magical mix complete. With songs like ‘Workin’ 9 to 5’ (sang by Zeta Ayre), ‘Skyscraper’ (sang by Claira Keenan) and ‘I’m A Believer’ (the Finale), audiences were sure to be in for an entertaining evening.
This was even more apparent at the entrances of Dame Nando and Dame Chiquita (played by Nathan Neeve and Ashley Smith) who strutted their stuff to ‘Don’t Cha!” and had everyone in stitches!
Joe Sanderson and Liam Peacock brought the character Buttons to life as a double act, one being But and the other being Tons. They have now been renamed as Redcar Academy’s own ANT & DEC!
Josh Would and Riley Hagen as the ever dashing Prince Charming and his valet Dandini brought their own unique style to the story which was comical yet serious when needed to be.
And who could forget the main attraction … IT’S RAINING MEN! 14 staff members from Redcar Academy joined in the fun and performed as the entertainment at the Prince’s Ball with their own rendition of ‘It’s Raining Men’ which drew huge cheers and applause by all.
Members of the audience came out with huge smiles on their faces at the end of the show. Some stating it was the best thing they had seen in a long time and that it was West End quality which to a small performing arts company, is a huge accolade.
The production team are meeting shortly to discuss the possibilities for our summer performance. Huge praise must go to the production team and the cast for a superb show.
