It doesn’t seem like 9 months of this year have gone by already and our Year 11 students have started their GCSE exams this week. The atmosphere in the Academy is a mix of anticipation, excitement, nerves and concentration. The exams and the run up to the exams are always, as expected, a busy time for the Academy. The pressure at this time of year and the realisation of the students that soon they will be moving on from the Academy and in to a new chapter of their life can often bring a mix of emotions.
We have high expectations of all our students –to do the best they can and achieve their targets. I am confident we have provided them with all the opportunities we can to ensure they are confident, prepared and determined. Whilst we make every effort to inspire and motivate our students, ultimately they make their own choice of whether they are going to be motivated and inspired.
To all of the students taking exams- and that includes some Year 9 and 10 students – I extended my best wishes from me and all of the staff at Redcar Academy. It fills us with pride every year to see how far students have progressed in their time with us. To see what they have achieved and what goals they have set and ultimately accomplished through their hard work, determination, commitment, and their teamwork with their peers and our staff.
The exam period isn’t a time when we forget about all of our other students either. Our rich, unique and creative curriculum still provides all of our students with only the best learning experience. I know that each and every day at the Academy we provide opportunities for our students to be respectful, aspirational, determined and innovative. They make choices every day whether they are going to utilise those opportunities and whether they are going to be positive. I want them to be inspired to strive for personal excellence and ultimately leave the Academy knowing their time with us has been inspiring and memorable; feeling proud, happy and successful in preparation for the new chapter of their lives.
We’re no longer here! We’re over at @OutwoodRedcar now!
