On Thursday 12 February, students at Redcar Academy performed in a captivating dance show for their parents, peers and members of the local community. Designed to celebrate the successes of the academy’s Performing Arts specialism, the show presented Key Stage 4 students with an exceptional opportunity to put their skills into action.
Audiences were treated to a variety of choreographed routines covering a wide range of dance disciplines. Year 11’s Shiree Briggs demonstrated admirable poise and confidence in a solo performance, with her fellow students Emma Davies and Jess Burniston contributing a spellbinding duet. As well as being their final performance at the academy, the show also made up a significant part of their final exam, making it hugely important for all of the students involved.
The academy was also delighted to welcome back two alumnae, Alicia Maxwell and Tara Stubbs, who are now studying at Middlesbrough College. Both put on a superb dance performance of their own, granting current students an excellent chance to learn from their expertise and gain a clearer idea of the high standards they need to maintain to be successful.
The performances proved to be resounding success, showcasing the strength of the academy’s Dance department in the best possible way.
