On Friday the 11th November Tim Would, the Youth Parliament representative for Redcar and Cleveland, attended the House of Commons to debate the issue of votes for 16 and 17-year-olds. He stood up to speak and stressed the fact that if his mother could work two jobs every day of the week then the Youth Parliament could make a big difference in a year. A very proud moment for Redcar Academy that our year 10 student took the opportunity presented to him to make his point heard. Well done Tim.

This is very apt as this week we have the campaigns running for our school council president. Students will have the opportunity to vote next week. Who knows they may be the politicians of the future.
The candidates are:-
K Forster – Year 10
P Ramsdale – Year 7
S McDonald – Year 8
L Bellhouse – Year 10
L Morton – Year 10
T Foreman – Year 9
We wish them the best of luck and will announce the winner as soon as possible.
